Commissions
J Schatz is a studio practice. Everything is made in Detroit.
The studio accepts commissions at all scales — a single piece in a custom colorway, a new form developed with a collector, a site-specific tile installation, or sculptural lighting for a residence or hospitality interior.
Process
Each commission is developed in close dialogue with the collector, designer, or architect — beginning with a conversation about the space, intended use, and direction. From there, the studio develops a proposal with materials, dimensions, and a production schedule. Work is then built and finished by hand in Detroit, with in-progress updates shared throughout.
Timelines — typically three to nine months
